(Though not that many share my opinion on this). The reasons are simple, Baird's entire political identity is based upon being a bully who has mused publicly about being part of coup. He in integral to a government that is fundamentally about control and the abuse of rights. If he really believed in human rights he would have nothing to do with Harper and nor would he base his political identity on bullying others. If the government that he works for had its way no one would have any rights, least of all gay people. The opponents of the Harpercons must learn that we are fighting for the future of democracy itself and we are going to loose that battle unless we pull out all of the stops so to speak.Kirbycairohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17528654183160305877noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5611409863712113861.post-87041669094409984832012-02-28T11:13:39.255-05:002012-02-28T11:13:39.255-05:00Like it or not, Vikileaks and the threat of Anonym...Like it or not, Vikileaks and the threat of Anonymous have done wonders for our media. Look at the coverage now being devoted to RoboCon by the National Post. Social media is taking over from establishment media in driving stories. While outing the personal life of a politician is iffy, it is also warranted when that politician is living a lie that sheds light on their political ethics. We may recoil from the fringes of social media, but it is bringing the news up to speed while throwing out the trash. Should John Baird's boyfriend be the target of the media? No. What about Stacey Meek? No. Vic Toews? Yes. Because his personal story seems to be intertwined with his political story.Jim Parretthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15331887342292476909noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5611409863712113861.post-58857008743108364362012-02-27T12:02:35.387-05:002012-02-27T12:02:35.387-05:00Dear Anonymous - I answer you with two points
1. ...Dear Anonymous - I answer you with two points

1. While it is true that if there is some publicly outstanding issue most politicians will address it, it is not true that every politician makes an 'issue' of ethics an attempts to bring their opponent's ethics into question. Some people do actually address issues and policies. The Harpercons have written a new book on attacking their opponents' personal lives at every turn.

2. There is a significant difference between issues of professional ethics and personal morality. The Harpercons have continually met opposition with smears concerning personal morality. If you oppose their Afghanistan policies you must be a terrorist, if you question their internet Bill you must be a child pornographer, if you blow the whistle on some sensitive issue you must be a spy or mentally deranged. The Harpercons attacked Ignatieff's family history, his personal moral motivation for wanting to be leader, they also suggested that his morals were somehow worse because he hadn't lived in Canada all his life. (And yet the journalistic and opposition community know a great deal of personal stuff about Harper and many of his minsters that they have never made public)

3. It is the Harpercons M.O. to attempt to bring someone's professional ethics into doubt even when there are no ethical issues involved. To compare their actions in this regard to any other Canadian politician or party for the last century is simply to ignore the quantitative and qualitative facts.Kirbycairohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17528654183160305877noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5611409863712113861.post-24603935731892315602012-02-27T11:11:35.348-05:002012-02-27T11:11:35.348-05:00I'm pretty sure *every* politician attacks the...I'm pretty sure *every* politician attacks their opponent's ethics, while showcasing their own pure morality.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5611409863712113861.post-52688866349186038922012-02-27T10:44:37.300-05:002012-02-27T10:44:37.300-05:00Warren Kinsella curls my toes. It doesn't take much reading between his angry lines to come to the realization the guy is in the wrong party.
