How Long Until Change These Initials (RCMP) - Into These (SS)??

This is a deeply troubling development. I think if one looks carefully at the actions (or inactions) of the RCMP since the now famous, unlawful statement on their part that they were actively investigating Ralph Goodale, it is becoming increasingly clear that the national police force is profoundly corrupted. There should be little question in people's minds that the RCMP is directing itself or is being directed to ignore the CPC's legal transgressions while pursuing everyone else's. Each step in this direction, like the one today, takes it further from the realm of conspiracy theory and into the realm of stunning and dangerous, banana-republic style police corruption. If you aren't troubled, you're not paying attention.

Well wouldn't a criminal investigation become "unwarranted" if a minister claimed to have instructed the employee to do what he did? Royal prerogative and all that. And once the RCMP determine there is no legal crime, if they have a standard policy to not tell the public details of any closed investigations...

You should really re-think that comparison. It is highly offensive.

Perhaps it is overly-provocative. However, what is indeed highly offensive is that in recent years the police forces in this country have become an active arm of the Conservative Government which was startlingly illustrated in the events of the G20 which, as the Ombudsman said, was the greatest single violation of human rights this country has experienced. These things often happen incrementally and people don't notice it. But we are now all in danger of being arrested and abused just for our beliefs. If the comparison offended you, I am truly sorry. But I am more sorry that we are losing our democracy and many people don't notice or seem to care.
